Crassostrea ariakensis
''Crassostrea ariakensis'', the Suminoe oyster, is a species of true oyster which inhabits intertidal hard grounds and substrate, as well as muddy creeks of warm estuaries throughout the western Pacific.〔"Suminoe Oyster (Crassostrea ariakensis) Culture in Korea" Journal of Shellfish Research: 08/2008; 27(3):505–508.〕 It is large and flat in appearance and almost identical in gross morphology to ''Crassostrea virginica''.

(詳細はbivalve mollusk with a hard calcium-carbonaceous shell. The hard shell provides protection from predation.
The Suminoe oyster can reach shell heights of 76 mm within 2 years post-settlement.〔"Age and Growth of Wild Suminoe (Crassostrea Ariakensis, Fugita 1913) and Pacific (C. Gigas, Thunberg 1793) Oysters from Laizhou Bay, China", Juliana M. Harding and Roger Mann. Journal of Shellfish Research 25(1):73–82. 2006〕 Growth and setting of Suminoe oyster larva were most successful at salinities of 15 to 20 ppt, with no successful settlement occurring at salinities of 35 ppt or above.〔"Aquaculture Potential of the Suminoe Oyster (Crassostrea ariakensis Fugita 1913)". Spawning occurs from July until September at a bottom water temperature of 22–26 °C.
